HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update introducing audio bugs

The HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update has been undergoing a steady rollout for a number of weeks, with the software patch found to introduce a selection of bugs.

Although much attention has turned to the new HTC One M8 in recent weeks, the 2013 released HTC One still remains the smartphone of choice for many tied into contracts. As well as introducing a bevy of new features, the latest software update is said to have brought with it a number of issues.

One such niggle is a reported loss of stereo audio when recording video using the HTC One’s camera mode.

Dropping audio to a mono input, it has been found that the issue can be rectified by reverting to an early version of Google’s operating system.

For those sticking with KitKat, a number of inconvenient workarounds have been surfaced until a full fix is made available.

One work around requires users to reboot their phone between video shoots. Resetting the handset will allow the first video you capture on returning to life to utilise stereo audio. After the first video is captured the issue will return.

Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has yet to offer any official comment on the reported HTC One Android 4.4 KitKat update issues.
