How tough is the iPhone 7? This stress test has the answer

Whenever a new phone is launched these days, you can guarantee it’ll be stress tested at some point. And that’s just what’s happened with the iPhone 7.
YouTuber JerryRigEverything is back with a new video showcasing his stress test exploits with Apple’s new device.
The phone really does get put through its paces in this latest video, with the usual scratch, burn, and bend tests being carried out.

So, how does it hold up? The results are fairly standard for a modern smartphone, with the screen beginning to scratch at a pressure level of six – which is better than the Note 7, which started showing scratches at level 5 in the same test.
And it’s the same story for the home button and the camera lens, which also don’t show signs of wear until level six.
Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Jerry seeming manages to disprove Apple’s claim that the iPhone 7 comes with sapphire crystal on the home button and camera lens.
Sapphire should resist scratches up to level nine, but we’ll have to wait for Apple to respond to know for sure.
When it comes to the burn test, the iPhone managed to completely recover from being exposed to a lighter, after the pixels turned black.
Jerry states that Samsung AMOLED screens typically turn white and do not recover, so that’s another win for Apple.
And in the all-important bend test, the handset also manages to hold up quite well. Jerry doesn’t manage to cause much lasting damage by bending the phone, but the adhesive around the screen does start to come away from the body.
The stress tester concludes that Apple has ‘made another solid phone’, but has some doubts about the Lightning connector, which he says is an extremely bad move from a ‘durability perspective.
