Google Play Music trial doubles amid Apple music service rumours

Google has doubled the length of the free trial period for its Google Play Music platform.
Previously, trials for the music streaming service were capped at 30 days, which is in line with most of the platform’s rivals.
Now, however, the ‘Unlimited All Access’ service can be accessed for 60 days free of charge.
This means you can listen to as many of the 30 million songs available on the platform, without having to sit through advertisements.
If you’ve ever subscribed to the platform before, however, then you won’t be able to access the free trial period.
Unfortunately, it also seems as though this is a US-only deal for now. The UK version of the service is still offering 30-day trials only.
If US users enjoy the trial, they’ll be able to continue with the Unlimited All Access service at a cost of $9.99 per month.

The extended trial comes at an interesting time, as Apple is widely tipped to be prepping Apple Music, its own music streaming service.
The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has been rumoured to be planning such a platform since 2012.
It’s purportedly sired from Apple’s acquisition of Beats Electronics, the audio company behind the Beats Music streaming platform.
It’s expected that Apple will launch the platform this summer, with WWDC (June 8-12) a likely candidate for the announcement.
A 60-day trial from today would carry users well past that date, so getting customers invested now could work in Google’s favour ahead of the claimed Apple Music launch.
