If you hadn’t noticed, Harry Potter is a pretty big deal, so it’s no surprise that audiobook sales are magical.
The Harry Potter audiobooks reached one million downloads quicker than any other book or series, Audible has announced.
Speaking to MarketWatch, the audiobook giant confirmed the figure, revealing that an impressive 8,300 customers download Harry Potter titles each day, on average.
“Other titles have reached a million downloads, but this was certainly the quickest ever to reach the milestone,” said Andy Gaies, Audible’s chief content officer, as quoted in the report.
Despite the final Harry Potter book – the Deathly Hallows – launching in 2007, Audible only began selling Harry Potter audiobooks on November 20 last year.

Prior to that, the audiobooks were only available through the Pottermore store, which was set up by Potter author J.K. Rowling.
According to Gaies, there were over 500 searches per day for ‘Potter’, ‘Rowling’, and the Harry Potter book titles prior to the November launch.
“There are very few gaps in our catalogue, but none were as significant as the Harry potter titles.”
