Great Detective Pikachu is an insane dream come true

Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination is a surreal new Pokemon game, and it’s coming  to the Nintendo eShop in Japan next week.

Have you ever wanted to solve crimes with a crazy, talking Pikachu? If so, Nintendo has created a crazy new game that is perfect for you.

Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Combination (translated from the original Japanese) is a new Nintendo 3DS title that features a talking Pikachu in his quest to solve a variety of mysteries.

Pikachu dons a fabulous Sherlock-esque hat as he wanders the streets of Tokyo in pursuit of potential mysteries and the reason for his newly acquired voice.

Oh, and did we mention that this Pikachu can talk? The iconic yellow mouse seems to have the ability of speech in this new game, and is capable of some hilarious facial expressions.

Pikachu is also accompanied by a new human character, who we can only assume is his partner throughout the game.

Previous rumours have stated that the Pokemon will react to the player’s facial expressions during gameplay, which may be the case.

It is unclear how the game will play, or whether it will follow the traditional Pokemon formula though, or if it will at all.

Personally, we’re hoping for something new and unique. Just try and imagine something along the lines of Phoenix Wright meets Pokemon.

Detective Pikachu will be available next week for 1200 Yen on the Japanese eShop. The price will increase to 1500 Yen after three weeks on sale.

Nintendo has mentioned nothing about the game being released outside of Japan, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
