Gigabyte announces new P57M gaming laptop with Skylake and GTX 970M

Gigabyte has unveiled its new range of gaming laptops, including the new P57M that packs in an Nvidia GTX 970M, Intel Skylake processor and up to four PCIe SSDs.

The P57M is the flagship of the bunch and also includes a 17.3in Full HD IPS display, though unlike some of Gigabyte’s Aorus models it doesn’t include G-Sync.

Instead it features a 6th generation Intel Core i7 processor, DDR4 RAM, those four SSD slots that no doubt will provide ridiculous storage speed performance, HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.1 Type-C.

Gigabyte also makes a big deal of this laptop’s anti-ghosting, 30-key rollover keyboard, which should help prevent situations where multiple key presses during intense gaming can result in unregistered presses.

Next up is the P55W which is a 15.6in machine that also has an Nvidia GTX 970M and Intel Core i7 but drops to just one SSD slot, but you do still get a 2TB, 2.5in hard drive. It also has a Blu-ray drive and chiclet style keyboard.

If you’re after the utmost in performance and a 4K screen then the P37X and P35X are the machines for you. With True 4K UHD 3840×2160 IPS displays and Nvidia GTX 980M graphics they’ll power through pretty much anything you throw at them, though again there’s no G-Sync on offer.

At the opposite end of the spectrum is the P34W, which still houses a 3K QHD 2560×1440 display but drops to a 14in chassis size and drops back to a 970M. It also has just the one 512GB PCIe SSD and 2TB hard drive.

Rounding out the range is the P17F and P15F that still offer Skylake CPU performance but only 950M graphics.

All of the new range have a focus on simple design and powerful features so black is the order of the day when it comes to colour choices and as mentioned, the likes of G-Sync or multi-colour keyboard backlighting is not to be found here. But with that will likely come lower prices than more fancy models.

Full pricing and release dates are yet to be announced.
