Gears of War and Killer Instinct coming to PC in early 2016

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Killer Instinct should arrive on Windows 10 in early 2016.

PC players have been eagerly awaiting the release of Killer Instinct and Gears of War, after Microsoft announced the Xbox exclusives would be coming to Windows 10.

It seems they won’t have to wait much longer, as Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has confirmed we will see the titles release in the early parts of 2016.

When asked on Twitter about the two games, he responded, “Haven’t announced dates yet but won’t be too far into 2016.”

Microsoft confirmed that both games would be coming to PC back at E3 in June, as part of their continued support for Windows 10.

Killer Instinct is set to launch on PC alongside the release of Season Three on Xbox One in March 2016.

The beloved fighter will support cross-platform play between Windows 10 and Xbox One. If you have already purchased DLC on the Xbox One, it will automatically carry over to the PC.

We’d love to see Microsoft adopt a “cross-buy” system similar to the one seen on Playstation platforms, however, it is possible to stream Xbox One games to your PC.

Microsoft has promised to dedicate more time to the PC platform, but has failed to make a  substantial impact thus far.

Many of its first-party games, such as Halo and Forza, remain exclusive to Xbox for the time being.

Killer Instinct and Gears of War coming to PC is a positive first step, and could easily pave the way for more Microsoft properties on PC in the future.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection seems like the perfect candidate, with the potential to bring an entire franchise to the PC in one huge compilation.
