Every day, there’s a new story about Star Wars’ inevitable success. Today is no different.
Total sales expectations for Star Wars: The Force Awakens have been hiked to lofty new heights.
As hype for the sci-fi flick grows,
That includes $1.95 billion from the global box office, up from a previous $1.5 billion.
The rest of the staggering total sum comes courtesy of estimated retail sales further down the line.
The box office figures alone would mean that the new Star Wars movie would rank third for highest-grossing films ever.
The Force Awakens would only place behind Avatar (2009) and Titanic (1997).

But Disney’s river of gold doesn’t run dry there; Goldman Sachs also predicts movie merchandise to net the company $6 billion.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens releases across the UK on Thursday, December 17.
