You may be aware that Samsung has had a bit of trouble with the launch of its Note 7 phablet, due to a slight explosion problem.
The issue was serious enough for the company to recall the devices, and yesterday the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced an official recall in the states.
Samsung has already said it will put stickers on the boxes of reissued Note 7s to differentiate the newly secured devices, but it seems that’s not all that’s changing.
The Korean firm is also planning to change the battery icon in the phone’s status bar from white to green.

But it’s about more than simply reassuring consumers. Including a sign that the battery is safe on the phone itself means you’ll be able to prove to others, such as security staff at airports, that your phone isn’t prone to explosions.
According to ZDnet, Samsung is delivering new batches of the Note 7 to distributors and stores in South Korea, ahead of a relaunch on Monday, September 19.
It’s unclear whether other countries will see the phone exchanged on the same date, however.
Earlier this week, Korean analysts suggested Samsung could bring forward the release of the as yet unconfirmed Galaxy S8.
The company will need to recoup losses from the Note 7 recall, and aside from a likely marketing blitz, and this new battery icon measure, a moved-up S8 launch makes a lot of sense.
