BlackBerry Z10 battery life fix not coming says developer

BlackBerry developers are not working to address battery life issues in the new BlackBerry Z10 handset, despite complaints from users accustomed to a traditional BlackBerry battery life of around a week.

Whilst critics have suggested that a patch could be answer to the BlackBerry
Z10 battery life issues, the Canadian handset manufacturer has said that it currently has no plans to address the issue.

“We are trying to be as competitive as we can on the battery,” said Vivek Bhardwaj, BlackBerry’s Head of Software Portfolio.  “I think we are pretty good. Are we the best out there? I’m not so sure.”

He added: “Software updates can only do so much. Our focus when we push out updates is to address market issues or enhance features.”

The BlackBerry Z10 was launched at the BlackBerry 10 OS launch event last week with an 1800mAh battery that will support the handset’s 1280 x 768p resolution 4.2-inch LCD touchscreen display. In April, BlackBerry is due to launch its second BlackBerry 10 OS device, the BlackBerry Q10, which is set to have a bigger 2100mAh battery and reduced screen resolution of 720 x 720p sure to increase battery life.

BlackBerry Z10 Features

The BlackBerry 10 OS powered BlackBerry Z10 is a full touchscreen handset, opting to get rid of the full QWERTY keyboard associated with the company’s devices. The 4.2-inch LCD display is partnered with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal storage expandable by microSD and 2GB of RAM.

An 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p Full HD recording gives excellent image quality, whilst a front-facing 2-megapixel camera is perfect for video calls. Currently available in black and white colour options, a Limited Edition Red BlackBerry Z10 is to be released exclusively for BlackBerry 10 developers.
