BlackBerry Android phone specs reportedly leak

Specifications for the rumoured BlackBerry Android slider appear to have leaked onto the internet.

Just last week it emerged that BlackBerry may be producing a new device powered by the Android OS rather than its usual BlackBerry 10.

Indeed, it was claimed that BlackBerry may have already given us a glimpse of this new hybrid phone earlier in the year. Apparently, this was the slider device that the company whipped out at MWC in March.

Now N4BB claims to have received details on the device’s specifications.

According to the report the slider, code-named “Venice”, will have a meaty 5.4-inch QHD display. Add in a Snapdragon 808 CPU and 3GB of RAM, and you’re looking at a spec that’s equivalent to a modern Android flagship phone.

That continues into the BlackBerry Venice’s camera setup, with an 18-megapixel rear unit and a 5-megapixel selfie cam.

The report seems concerned over the switch to the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 from an earlier-rumoured octa-core CPU, but of course we know all about the Snapdragon 810’s overheating and aggressive throttling issues by now, it’s not really a great surprise.

According to the report, the BlackBerry Venice will be released by November this year.
