With just days to go until Wednesday’s January 30 BlackBerry 10 release date, new reports have claimed to out the BlackBerry Z10 price.
Repeatedly leaked as the first handset that will support the new BlackBerry 10 operating system, the BlackBerry Z10 has seen its launch details prematurely outed with a rather steep £479.95 BlackBerry Z10 price appearing courtesy of UK smartphone retailer Carphone Warehouse.
Appearing on the Carphone Warehouse stock system, the claimed BlackBerry Z10 price, which has leaked just days before the handset is set to be formally unveiled during parent company RIM’s global BlackBerry 10 release date events, would see the handset line up at the upper echelons of the smartphone market, just £50 cheaper than the base level 16GB iPhone 5.
Seemingly set to be a touchscreen toting handset that will line up as the first BB10 flagship model, recent BlackBerry 10 rumours have suggested that the BlackBerry Z10 will be announced alongside the BB10 packing, full QWERTY keyboard hosting BlackBerry X10.
Expected to be cheaper on a selection of subsidised pay-monthly contracts, the leaked BlackBerry Z10 price is reportedly on a SIM-free basis. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Google Nexus 4 rivalling handset has been tipped to launch in both black and white colour forms.
BlackBerry Z10 Specs
Although as yet far from confirmed, a selection of claimed BlackBerry Z10 specs were recently leaked via a selection of training materials, with the next-generation flagship BlackBerry handset reportedly set to host a high-end collection of innards to warrant its lofty price tag.
Taking the Canadian company in a solely touchscreen direction, the BlackBerry Z10 specs are expected to see the handset sport a 4.2-inch display with a HD friendly 1280 x 768p resolution. With 16GB of internal storage, the BlackBerry Z10 features list has been tipped to be bolstered by 2GB of RAM and a hearty 1,800mAh battery.
Completing the handset’s multimedia credentials, the BlackBerry Z10 camera collection is believed to see an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera, with 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities, further bolstered by a second, 2-megapixel snapper up front with 2x zoom and 720p HD video possibilities.
Would a near £480 BlackBerry Z10 price tag put you off making the jump to BlackBerry’s flagship BB10 handset or is quality worth paying a premium for? Share your thoughts on the matter with us via the Trusted Reviews Twitter and Facebook feeds or through the comment boxes below.
