Battlefield 4 tipped for Xbox reveal showing
The next-generation Xbox reveal could be the stage for some new Battlefield 4 footage, as official tweet teases further “big announcements”.
According to the Battlefield Twitter account, fans of the series could be in for some fresh Battlefield 4 footage at tonight’s Xbox reveal event.
The tweet from the official Battlefield account states that “big announcements are coming soon”, just hours before Microsoft unveils its next-generation Xbox 720 console.
Despite the onslaught of social media response to the tweet, DICE has been true to their word and not revealing any further details, only occasionally asking Twitter users to “stay tuned” as “we don’t want to spoil the tension yet”.
DICE stated that a Battlefield 4 release date would occur sometime in the “fall” this year, due to ship on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, so it is almost guaranteed that Battlefield 4 won’t be an Xbox 720 exclusive and also launch on the PS4.
Although Microsoft has said its E3 press briefing on June 10 will focus on the range of next-generation games and tonight’s event will be centred on the hardware, it seems that we will still be seeing a lot of game footage this evening.
EA Sports has confirmed that FIFA 14 will be shown at the Xbox reveal via its EA Sports FIFA Facebook page. Activision also announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts would be further unveiled at Microsoft’s next-generation console launch.
Aaron Greenburg, Microsoft’s chief of staff for the Interactive Entertainment Business, revealed during a Major Nelson podcast that Microsoft is using tonight’s event to “get a great inside look at really making the new platform.”
“We’re really going to tell one story across two events. So we’re going to start on the 21st,” said Greenburg. “That’s about revealing the next Xbox platform, really our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned.”
Xbox fans can watch the next Xbox reveal live on Xbox.com and Xbox Live from 6pm BST this evening, May 21.
