Battlefield 4 Obliteration multiplayer mode unveiled with Paracel Storm map
EA Games and DICE have unveiled an all new Obliteration mode coming to Battlefield 4 multiplayer.
Speaking during the EA Games press conference at Gamescom, Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE General Manager has revealed the new multiplayer mode for Battlefield 4 and a new map based in the South China Seas.
Obliteration is a team based multiplayer mode that requires each team to battle to destroy the other’s camp before their own is literally obliterated.
“Your goal as a team is very simple – destroy the enemy target before they destroy yours,” explains Troedsson.
Just one bomb is spawned at a time in a random and spontaneous location. Players must race to get the bomb, transport it to the enemy’s location and then detonate it to destroy the opposition’s camp.
“It is an intense and fast paced action with moving objectives and multiple targets that will keep you on your toes.”
The new map is set in the Paracel Islands in the South China Seas and is called “Paracel Storm.”
Players will have to battle against the raging waters, as the new Frostbite 3 engine is capable of generating what DICE describes as “massive violent waves”.
Classed as the perfect spot to master the amphibious vehicles, the Paracel Storm map will offer a different style of gameplay that leaves a lot of the devastating attacks to chance and the weather.
EA Games and DICE confirmed that players can get their hands on the Battlefield 4 beta from early October for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
Battlefield 4 Premium
The Battlefield 4 Premium scheme was also detailed during the EA Games Gamescom press conference. For $50 (£32), Battlefield 4 Premium will offer gamers access to five digital DLC packs – Second Assault, China Rising, Naval Strike, Dragon’s Teeth and Final Stand.
They will also have 2 weeks early access to new DLC, 12 battlepacks, priority server cues and new content presented to them every week for the $50 set price.
“Fan reaction to Battlefield 3 Premium has been nothing short of amazing. We are humbled to see more than 4 million people join in,” said Patrick Bach, executive producer of Battlefield 4. “With Battlefield 4 Premium we continue to roll out the red carpet, treating our fans like VIPs with a massive amount of new gameplay, exclusive new content and even more benefits at an incredible value.”
