Asus Fonepad Note unveiled as 6-inch phablet

Asus has introduced a new 6-inch version of its recently launched phablet, named the Asus Fonepad Note FHD6.

The 6-inch phablet looks set to battle against the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and not just in name, as the Fonepad Note will pack a stylus and Full HD display.

“It’s a perfect balance between play, work and social activities,” said Jonney Shih, Asus Chairman, during an interview at Computex.

Asus Fonepad Note Features

The Asus Fonepad Note will pack a 6-inch Super IPS display with Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolutions.

It runs an Intel Atom Z2560 processor that was originally designed for smartphones, but is now being adapted for tablets. The Asus Fonepad Note will have 2GB of RAM and is capable of making and receiving phone calls over a 3G connection, though you may find the 6-inch display a little large for long call durations.

The Asus Fonepad Note will complement the existing Asus Fonepad already on the market, which offers a large 7-inch screen.

In the rear of the Asus Fonepad Note is an 8-megapixel camera, coupled with 1.2-megapixels up front and front-facing speakers, probably taking a design tip from the HTC One smartphone.

Like its 5.5-inch screen rival, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Asus Fonepad Note wields a stylus and a host of new features and applications that take advantage of such a peripheral.

The Asus Fonepad Note will not be offered on 4G LTE networks, due to the incompatible Intel chip that powers it, but Asus has said it will be shipping 4G supporting products next year.

Asus Fonepad Note Release Date and Price

Asus has not yet released any pricing or availability details for the Asus Fonepad Note, but we’ll keep you posted on all updates.
