Amazon Apple Watch app lets you shop from your wrist
Amazon has today announced the launch of its shopping app for the Apple Watch.
It will enable consumers to purchase items from the Amazon site directly from their wrist, as well as browse product lists and save ideas for later.
According to Amazon, it’s “designed for the on-the-go customer” and “offers a tailored Amazon experience.”
Most of the functionality offered on the full-blown iOS app is available on the smartwatch, though Amazon says that users will be able to find extra product information on their mobiles, through a feature called Handoff.
On the Apple Watch alone, you can search the Amazon catalogue, view product information such as prices, shipping information, product images and star ratings, complete 1-Click purchases on eligible items, add products to wish lists and save shopping ideas for later with your voice.
“This is still day-one for wearable devices. And we are excited to offer new ways for our customers to get quick glimpses of information they need from Amazon through Apple Watch,” said Paul Cousineau, Amazon’s director of mobile shopping.
“There are times when it might not be convenient to get your phone out of your pocket. So we worked to distil the best parts of the Amazon shopping experience into fast and simple access points from your wrist.
“Customers can use voice search, 1-Click purchasing, and find all of the key pieces of product information they need. We can’t wait to see how our customers respond.”
The app is available to users in the UK, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan and the US. Once you’ve updated to the latest version of the Amazon app on iPhone, the Amazon icon will automatically appear on the Apple Watch.
