HTC looks set to build on the success of the flagship HTC One, with the Android powered smartphone to reportedly give way to a Windows Phone 8 filled spinoff later this year.

According to reported insider sources, the Taiwanese manufacturer will launch a HTC One themed Windows Phone 8 smartphone in the coming months. Although not identical to the HTC One’s form factor, the Microsoft brimmed handset will reportedly build on the design principles laid out by the metal clad One.

Citing an unnamed source reportedly close to the matter, Neowin has suggested that the Windows Phone 8 powered HTC One spinoff “will look familiar, but not identical” to the original Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5 rival.

With the current Android enabled HTC One boasting a 4.7-inch display, the Windows Phone themed spinoff is said to have a display somewhere between 4-inches and 5-inches. What’s more, it has been claimed the currently unofficial handset will feature “a mostly metal body.”

With further leaked specs of the Windows Phone 8 handset suggesting the device will run HTC’s Ultrapixel camera, Beasts Audio innards and the GDR3 Windows Phone update, it has been claimed the smartphone will land this autumn.

While existing Windows Phone handsets are restricted to a relatively understated array of specs, it is expected that the GDR3 update will allow Microsoft’s mobile OS to support 1080p Full HD displays and speedy quad-core processors. Last week it was suggested that a HTC One Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is on the cards for next month.

HTC One Features
Currently a true powerhouse of the smartphone scene, the HTC One pairs an impressive array of specs with a stunning design.

Powered by a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, the handset run a 1080p Full HD display with a razor sharp 469 pixels-per-inch image density. With a 4-ultrapixel camera on the rear, the HTC One specs sheet is further complimented by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

With a 2300mAh Lithium-Ion battery at its core, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS powered HTC One sees a second, 2.1-megapixel forward-facing camera line up alongside integrated NFC and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options.
