Watch Dogs Wii U delayed again, other platforms given vague release date

Ubisoft has announced that the Watch Dogs Wii U version has been delayed again.

Unfortunately, the Wii U version of Watch Dogs will not be released at the same time as the other editions, Ubisoft has now confirmed.

“We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft,” said Ubisoft to investors.

Previously, there were rumours that the Wii U Watch Dogs had been completely scrapped, but this was proven to be false.

Ubisoft also revealed that the Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and PC editions would be released between April 1 and June 30.

Although this is far from a firm release date, at least it narrows down the “spring 2014” Watch Dogs launch window.

The developer also confirmed that over 10 million copies of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag have been shipped, which is 2 million less than Assassin’s Creed 3 at the same point in its lifetime.

Ubisoft blamed the next-generation console transition period for the sales drops and for its 35 per cent drop in year-on-year sales for the last quarter of 2013.
