Naughty Dog has confirmed that Left Behind will be the first and last single-player The Last of Us DLC.
According to developer Naughty Dog, after Left Behind arrives on February 14 there will only be multiplayer DLC released.
The full cinematic trailer for the Left Behind DLC was posted on the official PlayStation Blog earlier this week.
Replying to some of the gamers’ questions on the blog post, Naughty Dog Community Strategist Eric Monacelli confirmed its only multiplayer DLC in the future.
“There’s multiplayer DLC up next. We don’t have any more single player DLC planned”, said Monacelli.
That means you’ll need to make Left Behind last, as it’ll be the last single-player The Last of Us you’ll ever play (unless they release a sequel of course).
Monacelli does say that Left Behind is a “good length” depending on your gaming ability and the difficultly level and it also features new music recorded specifically for the DLC.
Left behind serves as a prequel to The Last of Us’s main storyline and aims to offer some background on Ellie and Riley’s relationship.
The DLC will have a slightly different tone to the main game’s campaign, and will feature a variety of gameplay styles.
“It’s definitely a bit different. It’s a little bit more ‘fun’, because you have two teenage girls going through a mall,” said Ashley Johnson, who is the voice of Ellie. “It’s kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out.”
