The Last of Us DLC has been confirmed for a February 14 release date by developer Naughty Dog.

The first campaign expansion DLC for The Last of Us, “Left Behind”, will be available to purchase on February 14, according to the official US website.

It is listed with a price of $14.99, but you can buy the Season Pass now for $19.99, which will include all future DLC and some exclusive Last of Us content.

We expect the Left Behind DLC to cost around £9.99 in the UK, seeing as the Season Pass is £15.99 in this country.

Left Behind is a single-player story expansion that acts as a prequel to the main game’s storyline.

“Ellie returns as new light is shed on her relationship with Riley, her best friend from the military boarding school they both grew up in,” reads the DLC’s official blurb. “After inexplicably disappearing for weeks, Riley re-emerges in Ellie’s life with a surprising revelation. The two sneak out of their school for the last time, leading to a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.”

For those who played and enjoyed the main campaign of The Last of Us, this first single-player expansion will have a different tone.

“It’s definitely different. It’s a little bit more ‘fun’, because you have two teenage girls going through a mall,” explained Ashley Johnson, who voices Ellie. “It’s kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out.”

“There’s a bit of everything in there. You’re really getting a new sense of the environment. You’ll engage in combat that seems familiar from the original campaign, but there are some new touches and nuances, too.”
