Electronic Arts has detailed the long-awaited Death Star DLC for its ailing Star Wars: Battlefront game.
The new Battle Station mode, coming in September, will feature a number of missions that will culminate in the opportunity to blow up the Empire's ultimate weapon once again.
In the final phase of the DLC, lucky gamers can take control of Luke Skywalker in his iconic Red-5 X-Wing, slide into the Meridian trench and pull off that "one-in-a-million." shot that obliterated the first Death Star in A New Hope.
The release promises to completely reinvogorate the game, which has suffered from a dearth of new content since its release at the back end of last year.
Phase 1 seemingly won't involve the Death Star, but will feature Rebel X-Wings and A-Wings battling against the Empire's TIE fighters and TIE interceptors. The objective? To take down a Star Destroyer.
EA explains: "The main objective in this phase is for Rebels to destroy enough TIE fighters until their Y-wing support can come in to weaken the Star Destroyer’s defenses. Once vulnerable, Rebel starfighters can attack the weak spots in an effort to bring the Star Destroyer down."
Phase 2 takes you inside the Death Star on foot and will even allow you to play as Chewbacca.
"Rebel infantry will be tasked with extracting a priority droid from within the Death Star," EA writes.
With Star Wars Battlefront now sitting in the bargain basement bin at some stores, there's a good opportunity to pick up the game on the cheap and do the thing that everyone wanted to do in the first place.
