Having trouble sleeping? Sleepion might be able to help.
It aims to help create an environment conducive to sleep, with calming music, gentle light and even soothing aromas. We've tried wake-up lights before, and their combination of dimming lights and relaxing sounds have indeed helped us find the land of nod. But we've never heard of one with its own smells before.
The sounds apparently "resemble prenatal environments and breathing". The idea is to evoke a similar environment as in the womb.
The light imitates moonlight. This is supposed to tell your body that it's time to go to sleep. The light flickers like a candle, and is the same brightness as moonlight. According to the makers, it helps you fall asleep, and stay asleep.
Finally, the aromas. It uses all natural materials, with smells of lavender from Bulgaria, cedarwood from Japan, and geranium from Egypt. Drip the aroma oils onto the aroma stone, and they'll permeate the porous surface of the unglazed ceramic, and be wafted around the room.
Sleepion can supposedly get you to the deep stages of non-REM sleep, in which your brain rests as well as your body. Ideally, you'll wake up feeling completely refreshed and ready to face the day. Well, as ready as you'll ever be.
It's raised over $2,000 of a $15,000 target, and has 47 days to go. It can be yours on an early bird for $170 (£113), and should ship in March.
