ScopeAround is a medical-style video camera for probing

Have a look around

We've seen plenty of home security cameras and action cameras on Kickstarter, but this is a first on us – a medical-style camera that lets you get up close and personal with your subject.

ScopeAround comes with three interchangeable heads – the Flexible, the Fit and the Focus. They have a range of uses, but the most striking is the ability to get really close to your subject matter, be it a flower, bank note, insect, or anything else.

It boasts medical-grade tech, so should give stellar image quality. It will give a new perspective on everyday things like your own skin, and should prove invaluable for science projects.

The Focus head has a microscope built in, so is perfect for seeing details that the naked eye would miss. The Fit is for cosmetic use, so you can explore your cavities, pores, and check any moles that might be worrying you. Finally, the Flexible lets you reach places that other cameras can't, like down into the engine of your car to see if you have a leak, or down the drain to see what's blocking it.

Its rechargeable battery juices up in about three hours. Connect it to your Wi-Fi network, and you can stream your footage to your phone.

It's certainly different, and for that, we applaud it. Pledge $99 (£69) and it can be yours when it ships in August.
