iPhone 6 rose gold

Prior to launch, we thought rumours of a pink iPhone 6S were a hoax. Turns out it’s real, and it’s very, very popular.

A new report suggests the rose gold iPhone 6S colour option accounts for as much as 40% of handset preorders.

That’s an impressive stat, especially considering there are four colour variants available – space grey, silver, gold, and rose gold.

The claims come courtesy of well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, as reported by AppleInsider.

“According to supply chain sources who spoke with Kuo, the rose gold iPhone 6S series is accounting for between 30 and 40% of preorders,” reads the report.

It continues: “The details were revealed in a note to investors issued Thursday, a copy of which was obtained by AppleInsider.”

According to the report, the real winner here is Foxconn Precision, the only casing supplier that is “capable of volume production” of the rose gold iPhone 6S.

Kuo also reveals that Apple “could realistically” sell between 10 and 13 million units over the opening weekend, the article claims.

However, it’s apparently “more likely” that the total figure will rest under 12 million.
