Imaging specialist Ricoh has officially unveiled the Pentax Q-S1, with the new compact system camera being offered in 40 different colour combinations.
Offering something for photographers of all tastes and preferences, the Pentax Q-S1 pairs a mass of colour options with a 1/1.7-inch back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, to offer high-quality images in a relatively svelte body.
Pentax Q-S1 Features
Offering blur-free images thanks to the inclusion of Pentax’s bespoke shake-reduction system, the Q-S1 boasts an ISO range up to 12800, and can capture up to five images per second when in continuous shooting mode.
Featuring a large, 3-inch LCD display on the rear for image playback, the camera hosts an integrated dust removal system to prevent dust spots marring your otherwise perfectly framed and focussed shots.
Attuning itself to the needs of all manner of photographer skill levels, the Q-S1 pairs easily adjustable manual shooting modes with 21 pre-set scene modes which includes the likes of Night Scene, Pet and Backlight Silhouette.
With a HDR mode also thrown into the mix, users will be able to touch up images directly on the camera. A bevy of creative tools are including, letting users add filter effects and personalise images post shooting.
Away from stills, 1080p Full HD video recording is supported, and compatible with high-sensitivity shooting.
The 40 colour combinations are made possible thanks to a mix-and-match system of body and grip colours.
While the Pentax Q-S1’s body will be available in black, gunmetal, pure white, champagne gold and bright silver, the camera’s grip adds more variety into the mix with the likes of ‘canary yellow’, ‘carmine red and ‘royal blue’.
Pentax Q-S1 Release Date and Price
With the Pentax Q-S1 release date having been pencilled in for ‘early September 2014’, the camera will be available as just a body for a very reasonable £299.99.
Pairing the snapper with a 5-15mm or 5-15 plus 15-45 lens package will set wannabe owners back £379.99 and £549.99 respectively.
