PS4 update 2.01 fixes 2.0 Rest Mode bug

Sony has released PS4 update 2.01 as means of fixing numerous bugs and issues with the recent 2.0 update for its console.

PS4 update 2.0 rolled out towards the end of October, bringing with it a number of exciting new features – not least of which is Share Play, which allows players to share and play games with friends over the internet.

Custom themes, meanwhile, allow you to pimp out your PS4’s homescreen. Finally.

The 2.0 update also enables players to share gameplay videos on YouTube, and there’s a spangly new YouTube app to aid with viewing them back.

However, it soon emerged that many players were experiencing serious issues following the 2.0 update. The most severe of these was the inability to turn the PS4 console on after putting it into Rest Mode, which could be ‘solved’ by unplugging the console. Others reported that the console would simply turn off without warning.

Now, a little over a week later, Sony has issued a fix. The PS4 software update 2.01 has started rolling out, and it “will address issues some users have encountered when powering on the system from Rest Mode,” according to the official PlayStation Twitter account.

It seems as if this new update is purely a patch, with no additional features mentioned. It remains to be seen if it solves all of those pesky 2.0 issues.
