According to the Creative Director of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag game, Jean Guesdon, the next-generation PS4 and Xbox 720 consoles could be released in October.

The next Assassin’s Creed game is due to launch on October 29 in the US and November 1 in Europe for the current Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U and PC platforms, but will also feature on the Xbox 720 and recently announced PS4. In an interview with Outside Xbox, Guesdon said that all versions of the game, both current and next-generation, will be released at the same time.

That means, if this information from Guesdon is accurate, that both new consoles need to launch before the game ships on October 29.

When the PS4 was unveiled last month, Sony gave the next-gen console a loose “holiday 2013” release date, whilst the Xbox 720 or codename Xbox Durango hasn’t even been officially confirmed. Rumours suggest that Microsoft could unveil the Xbox 360 successor on April 26, but so far the software giant hasn’t given any official information.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Features

Confirmed back in February, Ubisoft has been continuous drip-feeding fans of the series with tantalising titbits of information in the form of screenshots, game details, pack shots and more.

Set across 50 Caribbean locations, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag follows the story of pirate protagonist Edward Kenway on his nautical adventures during the pirating heydays of the 1700s. Combining open sea battles and diving sections with urban locales and the sprawling West Indies wilderness, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag looks set to be the most diverse and vast Assassin’s Creed world, and will feature famous swashbucklers such as Calico Jack, Charles Vane and Blackbeard himself.

The main modern day protagonist of the series, Desmond Miles, may be absent from the new title, replaced by an as yet unnamed researcher at Abstergo Entertainment, part of the Templar front Abstergo Industries.

When playing as Kenway though, the player will captain his ship, the Jackdaw, traversing from urban city to open sea, apparently without the need for irritating loading screens. The new game should be a much more immersive and realistic experience.

How you feel if both new consoles launched within the same couple of weeks come October? Do you think the Xbox 720 will better the PS4 when unveiled? Let us know via the TrustedReviews Facebook and Twitter pages or add your comments below.

This is an exciting year for consoles. Wii U hasn't been driving the sales numbers too well so it remains to be seen if the rest of the gaming community is ready for another console. Now that Sony has laid its cards on the table, we are impatiently waiting for Microsoft's response.

The ps4 will dominate and the wii u sales are racking up now (probably pass grade rewards? Most likely) but ps4 has 3 of my friends racking up change bills and holding amounts of paychecks for its release. Im gonna find out an exact price before its release and use remaining pell money for it and AC4. Excited to see upgraded naval equipment and swim DEEP underwater...not just go under...excited to see the ps4 system in action (which i heard should be this summer if nothing goes wrong...unsure if just a rumor though....hopefully legit though!!! But wont see actual deaign until CLOSE to ps4 release...) excited to see what their ideas will do to improve from the scantly clad and fast heater we call...the ps3...
