Pizza Hut box doubles as smartphone projector
A lazy night in with a pizza and a movie just took an innovative new twist, with Pizza Hut introducing a pizza box that doubles as a smartphone projector.
Yes, you read that right; the grease-laden cardboard box your guilty, diet-defying dinner arrives in will double as a big-screen projecting home entertainment system. Well, sort of.
The boxes come equipped with a special curved lens which – when slotted into a perforated cut-out on the side of the box – magnifies the video content from your phone.
What’s more, that little plastic frame that sits in the middle of your delivered pizzas to stop the box getting crushed even doubles as a smartphone stand – assuming you’re happy with your £600 handset smelling like pepperoni for the remainder of your 24 month contract, that is.
Sadly, you shouldn’t expect your next deep pan to come bundled in the smartphone-loving box. The pilot scheme – which features four designs – received a limited trial in parts of Hong Kong only.
The restaurant chain, which worked with advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather HK on the project, has yet to announce plans to roll out the innovative delivery device further afield.
While you keep your greasy, melted cheese coated fingers crossed for a UK arrival, why not check out the projector box in action via the video below.

This isn’t the first fast food-themed tech innovation we’ve seen, either. Last month KFC issued paper-thin Bluetooth keyboards with meals in its newly opened stores.
