OnePlus 3 release date revealed in customer service gaffe – report
If you’re desperate to know when the OnePlus 3 will be unveiled, the wait may finally be over.
A OnePlus representative has quietly revealed the OnePlus 3 launch date, according to the testimony of one Android Authority reader. The anonymous OnePlus fan was reportedly talking to a customer service representative, and asked when the OnePlus 3 launch would take place. The rep is said to have confirmed Tuesday, June 14, 2016, as the official launch date.
The customer was actually initially enquiring about the Loop VR, a virtual reality headset launched by OnePlus earlier this week. The headset, now sold out, was given away for free to customers on a first-come, first-served basis. Those with the headsets will be able to watch the OnePlus 3 launch in 360-degree video format through the new Loop VR platform.
Here’s a screenshot of the conversation:
The OnePlus 3 experience, it seems, will take place on June 14. This isn’t a new trick, mind; OnePlus did the same sort of VR launch experience with last year’s OnePlus 2 debut. It’s also worth noting that OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei pledged a pre-July release earlier this year, so the June 14 launch date isn’t surprising. However, this is just a report, so take it with due caution.
The OnePlus 3 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 64GB of storage, a 16-megapixel camera, an NFC chip (finally), and Google’s Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system skinned with the custom-built OxygenOS.
