Nook GlowLight lands as Kindle Paperwhite rival

Barnes and Noble has a new eReader on the way as the Nook GlowLight is officially unveiled as a direct rival to the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite.

Adding a revised front light for easier reading in varying lighting conditions, the new GlowLight offers a more natural reading experience than past offerings such as the Nook HD Plus tablet.

“We are excited to launch the new Nook GlowLight in the UK,” Colin Eustace, General Manager at Barnes & Noble said. “The new Nook, designed for people who love to read anytime, anywhere, takes the reading experience to a whole new level.

He added: “We have developed an all new lightweight design that is extremely comfortable to hold in one hand. Lighter and brighter, with a crisp, sharp text, no full page flashing and no ads, our redesigned reading experience is more immersive than ever making the device a must-have item for long-form readers.”

Nook Glowlight Features

Capable of storing 2,000 books, twice as many as the Kindle Paperwhite, the Nook GlowLight is also 15 per cent lighter than its market leading rival, weighing in at just 175g.

Able to be brimmed with all manner of content, thanks to the Barnes and Noble digital book store, the company’s latest eReader boasts a new E Ink display with an anti-glare coating and 62 per cent more pixels than its predecessor.

Featuring a white plastic body with a soft-touch silicone trim, the GlowLight is comfortable in the hand but doesn’t look like the most luxurious or premium of devices.

Nook Glowlight Release Date and Price

Not wanting to keep readers waiting, Barnes and Noble has confirmed that the new Nook GlowLight will launch in the UK today, August 6.

Getting another one up on its Amazon rival, the Nook GlowLight price has been set as just £89, a full £20 cheaper than the Paperwhite.
