Nintendo to announce mobile plans “soon”
Nintendo has announced it will reveal its mobile games plan “soon”, with its first forays still due by the end of the year.
It’s looking very likely that Nintendo is still on track for launching its first dedicated mobile games by Christmas time.
According to VentureBeat, DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako told a GamesBeat 2015 audience that “soon, we should be able to announce the game”.
Asako also added that he “can’t say too much about the Nintendo deal. But it’s a really exciting initiative.”
However, Japanese analyst Serken Toto has stirred the rumour pot even further by teasing the first Nintendo mobile game on Twitter:

Asako also added that DeNA and Nintendo are due to release five unique
mobile games between now and March 2017. But he also suggested that the
partnership will continue after that, saying that “it’s a really
long-term initiative”.

The partnership between DeNA and Nintendo was announced in March, with the pair working on mobile games featuring Nintendo IP alongside a new cross-platform membership service for customers.
Nintendo has said that “the alliance is intended to complement Nintendo’s dedicated video game systems business and extend Nintendo’s reach into the vast market of smart device users worldwide”.
Simultaneously, DeNA will be working to “strengthen its gaming business at a global scale by leveraging Nintendo’s IP”.
