New Windows 10 phones may boast iris-scanning tech and Pen support

Earlier this week we brought a leaked spec-sheet for the forthcoming Lumia 950 and 950 XL phones, but now it appears the devices will boast a few more bells and whistles than previously thought.

The handsets, which will likely be the first to run the Windows 10 operating system, will also have iris-scanning technology that’ll enable users to log-in via the Windows Hello platform.

Beyond that, they will also boast Surface Pen support, bringing Galaxy Note and Microsoft Surface Pro-like handwriting and annotation.

The report from Windows Central also brings its own understanding of the spec sheets for the devices codenamed Cityman and Talkman, corroborating the reports from this week.

The Talkman (Lumia 950) will apparently boast a 5.2-inch 1440×2560 OLED display, a 64-bit six-core Snapdragon 808 processor and 3GB of RAM.

The cameras will be a 20-megapixel PureView on the rear and a wide-angled 5-megapixel on the front of the handset, while everything will be powered by a 3000mAh battery.

This ties in with the previous reports out of China, as does the presence of Type-C USB connectivity and 32GB of internal storage with microSD support.

As for Cityman (Lumia 950 XL), it’ll boast a larger 5.7-inch screen of the same resolution with an octo-core Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3300mAh battery.

Other slight upgrades on the larger device include a 1mm silver ring inside the circumference of the camera pod and aluminium side buttons.

The phones are expected to launch in time for the holiday season.
