NBA 2K17 will reward gamers who stop playing long enough to move

NBA 2K17 gamers who hit their Fitbit targets will be see their player’s performance boosted within the hit basketball simulation.

As part of a new partnership between Fitbit and 2K Sports, those who amass 10,000 steps in a day will be rewarded with increased agility, improved layups and better dunking skills.

The temporary stats boost will apply only to the gamer-created myPLAYER and will last for 5 games that day.

The partnership is the latest addition to the Works With Fitbit API which includes apps like Strava, Lumosity, Waterlogged and Walkadoo.

However, this is the first time we’ve seen it work with a video game and, given some of the marathon 2K sessions we’ve undertaken without so much as flinching, it’s a cracking idea.

NBA 2K17 is out now for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and the integration with Fitbit will arrive on all versions on November 25.

This year’s iteration earned a near-perfect 9/10 score from TrustedReviews, earning praise for its impressive depth, new animations and improved visuals.
