The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Mortal Kombat X are no more, Warner Bros has confirmed.
Mortal Kombat will not be coming to PS3 or Xbox 360. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that last generation development has officially been halted.
The publisher released a statement on the matter in a post on its community forums:
“After months of development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has come to the regrettable conclusion that we cannot release Mortal Kombat X for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.”
“Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned.”
Those who preordered the game on either PS3 or Xbox 360 will be fully entitled to a refund, but it is unknown if any other type of compensation will be made available over time.
This news isn’t too surprising, considering how little we had heard about the last generation release in the months since the release of Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat X for PS3 and Xbox 360 was originally planned to launch alongside the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions of the game back in April.
The port was being handled by High Voltage Software, the same studio behind the title’s questionable PC port.
Perhaps this is a sign that major studios and publishers are starting to leave last generation consoles behind, opting to focus entirely on the PS4 and Xbox One.
