Microsoft launches luxury Surface Pro 4 keyboard

Microsoft has outed a swish new Signature Type Cover for the Surface Pro 4.

We’ve been mightily impressed with Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 hybrid, calling it “the best Windows tablet ever made” in our review.

One annoyance with the Surface Pro 4 stems from the continued requirement to splash out more cash on a keyboard, when it feels like it should be an integral part of the package. That issue still remains, but at least now you can spend your money on the beautiful Signature Type Cover.

Microsoft has turned to Italy and “a stunning two-tone grey mélange style of Alcantara” to give its keyboard texture and style.

Alcantara doesn’t just look good either. According to the related video (yes, Microsoft shot a video for the launch of a peripheral), the material is “never going to fade, it’s only going to get better with age.”

It’s more typically seen in luxury car interiors, fashion, and high-end headphones, but it seems a good fit with Microsoft’s classy tablet computer.

Besides the new material, the Signature Type Cover seems to be the same Type Cover as before. Which means that it provides a very good typing experience, with well-spaced keys and the first properly decent Surface trackpad.

The price for this stylish peripheral is £135, which is £25 more than the standard Surface Type Cover. It’s available to buy now in the Microsoft Store.
