Jeremy Clarkson takes a shot at BBC in new Amazon advert

Jeremy Clarkson will appear in a new advert for the Amazon Fire TV Stick where he makes a sly reference to his departure from the BBC.

In the advert, Clarkson glides into view atop a modified Segway, cheerfully alluding to his less than graceful departure from hit BBC show Top Gear earlier this year.

The former Top Gear presenter is heading to Amazon Prime Video next year alongside former co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May for a new car show.

Ahead of the Amazon show’s launch, he has taken the time to promote the company’s streaming device by appearing in the advert which will air during Saturday's Rugby World Cup.

During the advert, Clarkson claims he has been entertaining himself with the Fire Stick during his impromptu hiatus.

He even takes a sly shot at his former employers when demonstrating the range of services available on the device.

Users of the stick can watch content from Netflix, iPlayer and Spotify alongside offerings from BBC Sport, Sky News, and of course Amazon Prime Video.

The new advert will air just as Apple TV launches and Amazon will be hoping to harness Clarkson’s star power to win a few converts over to its streamer.
