Halo 5: Guardians may be PC-bound after Xbox One launch

Microsoft’s efforts to ’normalise the experience’ across its platforms could see the forthcoming Halo 5: Guardians launch for PC gamers in the near future.

With the Xbox One version of the eagerly anticipated title arriving next week, the franchise director has dropped a pretty big hint about a potential future on the Windows 10 platform.

Speaking to GamesRadar on Twitch Frank O’Connor said a PC port “wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world.”

He said: “You know, Microsoft has made a huge commitment to try and sort of… I think normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms. You see the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear in the Xbox and Cortana and stuff like that.

There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could appear on the PC. Nothing to announce at this point, but it’s absolutely not out of the bounds of reason. We developed the game on an Intel platform. It wouldn’t be the hardest thing in the world to move it to PC and take advantage of PC stuff. But nothing I announce today on this chat.”

The first and second games Halo games were both available for PC, but Windows gamers have suffered without the Master Chief since.

Microsoft wants the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs to be the closest of allies, with the Xbox app allowing console owners to stream their games to their PC.

A massive update to the Xbox One dashboard coming next month will also be powered by Windows 10, with access to universal apps.
