In the aftermath of last week’s iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iOS 9 and Apple TV announcements, you could be forgiven for feeling lost in the middle of an Apple-branded maze.

Release dates and pricing for the new phones are going to be the most pressing questions on people’s minds, although we’re sure that plenty of you have queries regarding Apple TV too.

Specifically, the Apple TV Remote.

For instance, is it comfortable to hold? How might one go about keeping it in tip-top condition? What happens when you drop it?

Griffin Technology’s new announcement will make your day.

The company has unveiled the Survivor Play, a silicone case that will increase the Apple TV Remote’s grippiness and protect it from “even the rowdiest gaming sessions”.

It wraps around the remote’s underside and edges, and also features a cutout for the charging port.

“As our team gathered around to watch Apple’s announcement last week, we immediately knew the new Siri Remote and gaming feature for Apple TV would be a huge hit,” said George Campbell, Griffin Technology’s senior designer for strategic development.

“Now that gaming has been added, the Apple remote will work harder than ever and our Survivor Play will be there to further enhance the gaming experience.”

We joke, but there’s no reason that the Survivor Play won’t prove a hit.

The microphone- and touchpad-toting Apple TV Remote is designed to be used like a Wii controller during gameplay, and is therefore likely to suffer its fair share of trauma at the hands of clumsy friends and family members.

Whether it will actually deliver a decent gaming experience is another matter entirely.
