Google event: Date confirmed, new Nexus phones & Marshmallow coming?

We’ve known that Google has been cooking up some new goodies for a while now, but they’re finally ready to land.

Google has just announced a press event for Tuesday, September 29 at 17:00 London time.

The event, expected to host the launch of several new products, will take place over in the veritable tech Mecca that is San Francisco.

The actual invitation doesn’t reveal much about what’s in store, only offering the teaser: “Join us for tasty new treats and much s’more.”

That’s clearly a reference to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so we expect to see new details about Google’s upcoming mobile OS update on September 29.

So what else is everyone’s favourite search engine giant going to throw down at the event?

Well it’s been widely rumoured for a while that two new Nexus smartphones are in the works.

The first is purported to be a successor to the original LG Nexus 5. The next-gen version is also expected to have been built by LG.

The second is a follow-up to last year’s Motorola Nexus 6, except this time Huawei is tipped to be the manufacturer of choice.

There have also been plenty of rumours regarding a possible new Nexus tablet, so stay tuned for that.

Finally, we’ll likely see rumours of an updated Chromecast device finally come to fruition.
