A photo of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 stand at MWC 2013 has been leaked, confirming the device will be officially launched in the next day or so.

Samsung is famous for making phones and tablets at almost every size imaginable, and the latest to get the Samsung treatment is the 8-incher phone-tablet hybrid. An anonymous Engadget tipster leaked a photo of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 promo stand at MWC 2013, which kicks off officially on Monday 25 February.

The photo confirms that, as expected, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will allow stylus input, presumably using a digitiser layer similar to that of the original Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2.

Although the photo shows the Galaxy Note 8.0 used one-handed, the generous bezel and 8-inch screen suggest it will be, quite literally, a stretch for most people.

This is not the first time the Galaxy Note 8.0 has been leaked – it was also accidentally revealed at an event in South Korea earlier this month.

Galaxy Note 8.0 Specs

With less-than-watertight security, it’s no surprise that most of the Galaxy Note 8.0’s specs have already surfaced.
Rumours indicate that the 8-inch tablet will have a 1,280 x 800 pixel screen, a 1.6GHz quad-core CPU, the latest 4.2.2 version of Android and 16GB of internal memory.

This makes the Galaxy Note 8.0 comparable with the first-generation iPad mini, in that it does not have a particularly pixel-rich screen or a cutting edge processor – eight-core phones have already been revealed, although four Exynos cores should easily be enough to make the device fly.

These sensible specs should help to keep the Galaxy Note 8.0’s price at a reasonable level. And, most crucially, the device retains the series’s stylus USP.

Samsung is not holding an official press conference at MWC 2013 this year. These days, it tends to reserve its most important launches for separate Samsung-run events.

This means that we will not see the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 at MWC 2013. The phone will instead gets its own glitzy unveil, most likely within the next month or so.

Is there room for an 8-inch Note, or is Samsung just pulling its usual scattergun trick of producing just about every conceivable iteration of an idea and seeing what sticks? Let us know in the comments.
