And to ensure the latest Galaxy phone retains some of the spotlight in the wake of the Note launch, the company has enlisted none other than Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover to promote the virtues of the phone's battery capabilities. Because, why not.
Shuffling around in an air vent, Glover once again finds himself in the centre of a familiar action movie trope: having to defuse a bomb with a rapidly elapsing timer. Luckily, the timer has a full 12 hours to go, and the ageing star just happens to have his S7 – something for which he no doubt enlisted the talents of his grandchildren in order to learn how to use – to hand.

The idea, of course, is that the phone will keep him entertained for the full 12 hours, while he inexplicably waits for the timer to reach close to zero. The S7 is certainly up to the task, and made up for a less than impressive battery capacity on the Galaxy S6. Samsung thankfully made the move from a 2,600mAh cell on the S6 to a 3,000mAh offering with the S7, making for a phone that will easily last you a full day – though, it will still require overnight charging.
As such, we're ever so slightly baffled by Samsung's decision to focus on battery life in this latest marketing effort. Sure, as the advert's narrator states, the Galaxy S7 offers the best battery life of any Galaxy phone, but there are a lot of other, arguably more impressive features to focus on with what might be the finest Android device we've ever seen. A fantastic camera, outstanding design, and sharp OLED display are just some examples.
Still, the battery life on the S7 was undoubtedly a positive development, and we're thankful to Mr. Glover and Samsung for reminding us of this fact, even if it is with an incongruous and confusing advert.
