It’s 2010 all over again and Angry Birds is the talk of the town, with developer Rovio launching a new avian-themed game.
Having knocked down pig-hiding homes, travelled through seasons and taken to the track, the Angry Birds franchise is now on its way to Asia in Angry Birds Fight.
A match-3 puzzler with RPG elements, Fight is the first Angry Birds title to offer real-time player vs player gameplay and has been created in partnership with Japanese developer Kiteretsu.
In Angry Birds Fight, the familiar faces of the flight-friendly clan are once again pitted against their arch enemies – the pigs.
Gamers have to match panels against the clock to earn power-ups for their chosen fighters, and can play against rivals from around the world.
“We’re thrilled to bring Angry Birds Fight!, the very first Rovio title developed in Japan, to the rest of the world,” said Katsumi Oikawa, Rovio’ Country Director for Japan.
He added: “We’ve dedicated a lot of time to developing a game that is tailored to those who are fans of Japanese culture, RPG and player vs player battles and we really hope fans worldwide enjoy the first Angry Birds game that champions these features.”
The app-based game is avilable on both iOS and Android platforms.

Having been an early poster child for the app developer market, Rovio has fallen on harder times recently.
Due to rapid over expansion and decreased interest in the Angry Birds franchise, the developer recently laid off more than 100 member of staff.
