Best Powerline Adapters: Best All-Rounder with Wi-Fi

BT has impressed us recently with its home networking kit, like the excellent BT Home Hub 5, and the BT Wi-Fi Home Hotspot 500 continues the trend.
Out of the box, the most obvious reason this kit stands out is its choice of a rather stylish matt black finish, which makes a nice change from the glossy white of nearly all other Powerline kits.
But far more important than this is what this package delivers. Like the Netgear Powerline AV500 Wi-Fi Access Point, one of the adapters includes Wi-Fi, allowing you to easily extend your wireless network, but here it also includes a second Ethernet socket for connecting two wired devices too.
What’s more, the Wi-Fi setup is effortless. Included in a little slot on the back of the Wi-Fi adapter is a little removable card with the network details on allowing you to plug in, walk away and then connect. The Wi-Fi already secured so you don’t need to set it up as such – just login and away you go.
The adapter also supports WPS for easy one touch connection – great for quickly connecting a guest’s phone for instance. The included support number on the details card is a nice touch, too.
Added to this great raft of features and usability, this is also a speedy kit with the Powerline connection delivering 10.1MB/s and the Wi-Fi connection 4.8MB/s.
The final flourish is a competitive price. At £89.99 it’s not cheap but it does offer good value for money.
