It's a very monitory start to the year isn't it. Following high end announcements from NEC, LaCie and Dell itself with its luxury Crystal LCD, Michael's boys are at it again with the '2408WFP'.

The 24 incher is the little brother to Dell's debut DisplayPort offering, the 3008WFP and packs the same HDMI challenging connector along with *deep breath* HDMI itself, 2x DVI, VGA, Composite, S-Video, Component and 1x USB 2.0 upstream and 2x USB 2.0 downstream ports.

Add to this a native 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, 6ms response time, 1,300:1 contrast ratio, wide 178 degree viewing angle and 400-is-the-new-300 cd/m2 brightness and - at least on paper - you've got one cracking display. Add to this the very impressive ability to display 102 per cent of the colour gamut and even purists should be suitably won over.

The 2408WFP goes on sale immediately at Dell US with an RRP of just $748 (approx. £375). Heaven knows how the latest cross Atlantic currency conversion will turn out over here, but expect to find out in the next few weeks...
