CyberLink has further tweaked the performance of the 64-bit engine introduced with the previous version of PowerDirector. But the main focus here is on 3D. The app will import all the major 3D video formats, including MVC files from JVC's Everio GS-TD1, and offers quite a few tools for editing them and adding effects. There are also comprehensive output choices in 3D, including disc burning and upload to YouTube. There's less here if you're not interested in 3D yet, but this is still a very capable video editing app.Read full review
I could well be wrong - but I think the review infers that JVC don't use the side-by-side system - and instead capture two separate, but Full HD frames (in a non-SBS format).
The JVC GS-TD1 will record either MVC or Half SBS. None of the current consumer-grade camcorders I've tested will do Full SBS, so it's a bit irrelevant to this discussion. They squeeze Half SBS into a single frame of Full HD AVCHD instead.
What Blessing PowerDirector 10 Ultra is. It is relatively simple (one can go from the now-excellent free Windows Live MovieMaker to PD 10 Ultra with few hiccups. Its edit/timeline function is well-integrated with its Disk Authoring (6 weeks ago I bought Corel Videostudio X4 Pro which wiped out hours of work every time ONe chapter point was removed shifted. The only quibble is that in the Menu/Disk authoring stage objects are often seen as overlapping when it is not apparent where this is occurring - no more than 4 thumbnails per page (6 is possible but a lot of farting about). The Cyberling community templates are great but I wish Cyberlink had supplied more generic, customisable templates (e.g. 6 thumbs per page). Otherwise a blessed dream - and STABLE - after Videostudio X4 - Congratulations Corel
