Xbox One handed rescheduled Chinese release date

The Xbox One has been handed a rescheduled Chinese launch date following recent unexplained delays.

With the near year old console having been scheduled to take its first bow in China today, September 23, Microsoft yesterday announced the console launch was being pushed back.

Although failing to detail the exact reasons for the last minute delays, the manufacturer stated it needed “a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans”.

Now, however, Microsoft has announced the PS4 rival has been rescheduled for its appearance in the Asian nation. The Chinese Xbox One release date will now be held next Monday, September 29.

Hinting at a possible cause for the week long postponement, the company told Reuters: “We take great care to ensure that we meet or exceed regulatory standards.”

Enwei Xie, Microsoft’s general manager for Xbox China, added: “After receiving government approval for the first wave of games, we’ve decided to launch with digital copies of the first 10 games now and will continue our work to bring more blockbuster games and a broad offering of entertainment and app experiences to the platform in the months to come.”

The Chinese Xbox One release has added significance given the recent lifting of a sales ban on foreign consoles in the country.

The 360 follow-on is set to be the first foreign console to launch in China in the past 14 years.
