OnePlus could rebrand Dash Charge as Warp Charge in Europe

When OnePlus announced the OnePlus 6, it refrained from using its Dash Charge moniker to reference its fan-favourite fast-charging tech – and now it’s reasoning has been uncovered.
XDA-Developers revealed in May that OnePlus had been rejected a trademark on its Dash Charge branding in Europe because it was believed to be too similar to Amazon’s Dash Replenishment, which led to it returning to the drawing board.

OnePlus has since submitted another request to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), this time for the name Warp Charge. The trademark is still under consideration, though, so there’s a chance it could once again be thrown out.
Ahead of its announcement of the OnePlus 6 in May, the firm replaced Dash Charge with the term ‘charging rapidly’ in OxygenOS, its custom version of Android, and started selling Dash Charge Cables as Fast Charge Cables in several regions.
OnePlus will need to amend all of that branding, replacing ‘charging rapidly’ with ‘Warp Charging’ and Dash Charge with Warp Charge both in its software and across all its various regional websites, should the new name be accepted by the EUIPO.
