Twitter for iOS and Android introduces new conversation view

Twitter has launched a new feature for its website and apps for iOS and Android, which should make it easier to keep track of, and join, conversations on the social network.

The update, which launched on Wednesday evening for the apps and, brings a new conversation view featuring tweets and replies in chronological order.

That means you’ll see the first tweet in a conversation when it appeared in your timeline, and then any replies to that tweet (from those you also follow) will appear underneath.

That is a welcome change for users, who often seen the end of a conversation and work their way down to an original tweet, which means reading the tweet that sparked the conversation last.

The much-requested feature, also allows users to easily join in on conversations, by hitting reply, or to view more replies (including from those you don’t follow) by tapping the conversation to expand and collapse.

In a post on its official blog, Twitter wrote: “As you can see [from the video], Tweets that are part of a conversation are shown in chronological order so it’s easier for you to follow along. You’ll see up to three Tweets in sequence in your home timeline; if you want to see more, you can tap a Tweet to see all the replies, including those from people you don’t follow. We will start rolling this out to everyone today.

“We’re also making it easier to share these conversations on With this update, you can share conversations over email — whether your friends are on Twitter or not. On iPhone and Android, you can share individual Tweets over email, and on Android you can share via direct message (DM) as well.”

For Android and there are also security enhancements, which will allow users to report individual tweets for abuse and spam. That feature is already live for iPhone users.
