The Ion Belt: Charge your phone from your trousers

Battery life is one of the key things phone makers need to improve. Until that day, we’ll have to keep taking chargers with us wherever we go. But this one is more convenient than most – it’s built into a belt!
A 3,000mAh lithium ion battery is built into the The Ion Belt – that’s enough to charge most modern smartphones up to full. Though what’s more likely is you’ll just need to juice it up for a few minutes to last you until you get home.
Unlike a lot of wearables, it doesn’t look too techy. If you didn’t know, you’d think it was a normal belt.

If you think it’s a bit similar to the XOO Belt, that’s because it is. The man behind the XOO joined forces with Aaron Krause, the maker of the Scrub Daddy (as seen on the US TV show Shark Tank) to make The Ion Belt. Whereas the XOO was a designer item, The Ion Belt is more affordable.
It’s raised $33,000 of a $50,000 goal and has 35 days to go. The early birds are gone, but you can snap one up for $89 (£59). Of successful, it should ship in June.
