AMD bests arch-rival Intel to win Tech Brand of the Year 2017 honours
AMD has taken the coveted Tech Brand of the Year award at the 2017 Trusted Reviews Awards.
The company, which redefined what gamers could expect from their CPUs this year, won the reader-voted award. In doing so, it beat Samsung, Apple and arch-rival Intel.
The award tops off a sterling year for the company, which boasted a 300% profits increase in its most recent earnings report thanks to huge sales of its new Ryzen processors. But that’s not all: AMD is the brains and brawn behind the power of both Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, both huge-selling products with mighty levels of power and efficiency.
The company also announced a return to the thin-and-light laptop space with its Ryzen Mobile processors – chips that could beat the likes of Intel in a straight fight.
When you consider the year AMD has had, it’s no real surprise that the company walks away this award.
